Wrap-up and Outlook

Background and scope of the event:

In the wake of the global energy crisis both Germany and Korea, two highly industrialized economies, find themselves with the need to reconcile rising energy prices and a strained economy with an ever-increasing pressure to counteract the climate crisis.

The expansion of renewable energies and thereby decreasing the reliance on expensive fossil fuels is a link that connects both challenges. This event will dissect what is necessary to achieve this objective, particularly zooming in on two aspects: grid expansion and optimization with a focus on offshore wind and smart grids and new digital bussiness models.

The Korean-German Energy Day (KGED) provides a platform for energy experts from government, industry, research and civil society to exchange views and learn from each other's experiences. The overall focus of the event is to discuss policy measures and showcase the existing technologies which can be utilized to the benefit of the Korean and German carbon neutrality goals.
